2024 shinies

Trying out a different way of organizing my lists, so that it'll be more accessible for me to revisit!

websites

It's so cute!!! There's something so charming about this, from the art to the website itself

This is the kind of website that I want to make for myself!!! I'm still figuring out why I want to make my own website though (and why wanting isn’t enough to push me into making one so far)

I love the pink haunted house theme!! I like how it's both personalized and professional (and that the latter doesn't need to be always sleek and modern)

I love how interactive it is! (Or at least it used to be) The art looks familiar, but I don't remember where...but even just the fact that it feels familiar is already soothing on its own

I like their micro-fiction! Have only read one so far but I'd like to go back and read some more

webnovels

A story about a witch finding herself in a new world, teaming up with a mage to fight monsters. Followed these characters’ journey from sketches in a tumblr post to an ongoing story, and I’m looking forward to where it goes!

essays

Strongly resonated with this piece, esp with where I am right now at life. Anytime's a good place to start reflecting on things

I like how intensive this was! Had been discussing this at length with my partner and friends

Wonderfully earnest piece on creating their own safe space in the internet

games

I played this game when it was first released! I remembered this because of a recent experience while taking the jeepney during rush hour. This game reflects that, but as overworked sea creatures in a train setting, with cute art and jazzy music

A multimedia project highlighting Hazaran Blbul, an Armenian folktale; this one takes the form of a platformer game with gorgeous art and lovely music

Recently reinstalled games on my phone (a decision I'm starting to regret, but I'm trying to convince myself this is for RESEARCH). This one tho still hits hard even on my nth replay; it's both addictive (bad) and heart-wrenching (good)

music

This song was played during a normal day of commuting to work. My life was never the same again

It's very soothing! I'm rooting for this artist and their projects. Been listening to this while I work

essays

I cried at the end. I love how it portrays the complexities of relationships, especially with the people we love, and how it evolves over time, for better or for worse

Insights on marriage and what it means to the different people who take part in it; also the social constructs that surround how we view platonic vs romantic relationships, and monogamy as a whole

Musings on the online spaces we occupy, and how we occupy said spaces; also I'm pleased to find another cohost user who migrated to bearblog! reading their post made me decide to give bearblog another try (and I'm glad I did)

videos

Her determination in making her game happen is contagious; she made a dress-up game called Dressup with Lola, reminiscent of the ones on girlgogames before its descent into...what it is right now. Also this sparked the start of my "I want to make a game too" phase

This one reawakened my interest in games that lets you collect stuff. Her game Pocket Collector is still in development, and it’s really cute

One of my favorite artists is also making a game?? It's a cute desktop idler where you can collect cute frogs and they make cute noises when you click on them. It's called frog pond

I love their videos on zine-making: highlighting the process, others' zines, and their own
