2024 watch recap
i hardly watch films on my own, so it was nice when my partner J suggested to have an online movie session once a month. this schedule did not fall through, but we make do during our longer dates. i'd love to go back to our movie list though
edit on 3/5/25: I don’t think Hamilton (2015) is a film, but I watched it this year, and I want to remember that! I’m still not sure what to call this recap, but this one exists in the meantime.
Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)
the 1st movie we watched together! a lovely stop-motion film about how a fox's goal for grandness ultimately puts his family and community in danger. i find Mr. Fox to be aggravating, but he was fun to watch
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
another movie on our list! i love the complex relationship between the characters. it sparked a conversation between me and J on how we view second chances and when they are worth it
Before Sunrise (1995)
the pacing in the characters' conversations and relationships is something i resonate with in my own; i love how it allowed me to slow down and observe
About Time (2013)
this one is my favorite from our list. there were parts that made me feel skeptical, but i like the overall theme. the main couple's development made me root for them
World War Z (2013)
this one was a mix of both intense and slow moments! there also some parts that made me go "eh???" but i like how it presents the protagonist's family, even tho their screentime greatly reduced by the 2nd half of the movie
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994)
watched this while visiting a friend at her house. not something i would rewatch willingly
XXX: State of the Union (2005)
also watched this at the same friend's house. it feels very..."fast food" in a fun way
Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024)
watched this during on a trip with colleagues. martin lawrence is fun, and i love how over-the-top it is! this is the first (and probably the only) one in the bad boys film franchise i've seen
Hamilton (2015)
Watched this together with J, and since then I FINALLY understood what the songs meant, and its actual impact. Phenomenal show.
Juno (2007)
Watched this together with my college friends on an overnight reunion! We have varying reactions towards the main character, but overall I think Juno did alright.
